A new back-up for the promoted red team

The promoted team is stepping up the competition between the posts! GAK have signed a new goalkeeper for their Bundesliga adventure. The 18-year-old Lower Austrian Juri Kirchmayr comes from Hasenhüttl's club VFL Wolfsburg.

Wolfsburg coach Ralph Hasenhüttl began his career as an active player at GAK in Graz - now one of his former pupils is coming to the Mur. The 18-year-old Juri Kirchmayr from Lengenfeld, whose contract in the VW metropolis has expired, is hoping for a breakthrough at the Uhrturm.

"He has enjoyed an incredibly great education at VfL Wolfsburg," says sporting director Dieter Elsneg about the two-time ÖFB U17 international goalkeeper, who trained with VfL's professional team throughout the previous year - alongside his compatriots Patrick Wimmer and Pavao Pervan.

Kirchmayr began his career in Lower Austria and, after youth training in Lengenfeld, Langenlois and Kautzen, went through all the youth stages up to U18 at St. Pölten. At the start of 2022, he moved to VfL Wolfsburg's youth team in Germany, most recently making 28 appearances for the Wolves' U19s.

 "He will complete our goalkeeping team around Jakob Meierhofer, Christoph Nicht and Haris Mujanic," says Elsneg. "Goalkeeping coach Thomas Queder is absolutely convinced of him and we are happy to have got such a talented young goalkeeper!"
