Attacked Vienna police officers with a wooden slat

A dangerous attack on several police officers took place in Vienna-Währing on Friday morning. A 35-year-old man attacked the officers with a wooden slat.

Attentive witnesses alerted the police at around 7 a.m. after observing the 35-year-old attacking passers-by with a wooden pole near a hospital. The officers were only able to stop the suspect in Vienna-Alsergrund. However, the man refused to drop the wooden slat, which had a long nail stuck in it. Shortly afterwards, he attacked the officers with it.

Robbery in Vienna-Neubau
The officers then used pepper spray and the 35-year-old was arrested after fierce resistance. Further investigations revealed that the 35-year-old had probably committed a robbery in Vienna-Neubau a short time before. The suspect is now in prison.
