Failed ATM blast: perpetrators on the run

Large-scale operation on Thursday morning in St. Veit an der Glan: bank employees noticed that unknown persons had attempted to blow up two ATMs. But the attempt is likely to have failed. The duo is on the run.

At 2.26 a.m., the two strangers entered the foyer of the bank. They then tampered with the two ATMs. The perpetrators removed the veneer. "Obviously, this preparatory act served the purpose of subsequently blowing up the ATMs," the Carinthia State Criminal Police Office reported.

It is still completely unclear why the perpetrators then suddenly fled. The investigations of the State Office of Criminal Investigation have been opened.
