Migrant immigration: federal states give Vienna the cold shoulder

When it comes to internal migration, an agreement between Vienna and the other eight federal states seems more distant than ever. This became clear after a two-day conference of all nine integration officials. However, they all want to tighten up a little on obligations for migrants.

After two days of consultations between the integration officers of all the federal states at City Hall, the issue of internal migration is dividing Vienna and the rest of the country even more than before. Deputy Mayor for Integration Christoph Wiederkehr finds it "irresponsible" that the other federal states are "happy" to leave a large part of their integration problems to Vienna.
