Man (34) seriously injures wife and two children

German police reported that a man (34) seriously stabbed his wife and two of his children near Bonn on Wednesday night. The perpetrator then set fire to the apartment.

The fire then spread to the apartment building in which the apartment is located. The third child in the family suffered smoke inhalation.

The suspect fled the scene of the crime in Bad Münstereifel near Bonn, and on Wednesday morning police officers were able to arrest him at a rest area on the 61 freeway. The motive for the crime is still unclear.

All of the injured were taken to hospital. The injuries to the 33-year-old woman and the two children were "serious", said the spokesman, and the possibility of fatal injuries could not be ruled out. The three children are ten, 13 and 15 years old.
