Maldives: Death lurks around the “paradise”

A snorkeler screams for help a few meters from the shore. Minutes later, she is no longer to be seen. The young woman is dead. Happened a few weeks ago in the Maldives. The "Krone" took a closer look at the situation on (and around) the islands.

A group of vacationers are standing on the beach, looking anxiously at the water. Next to them, a hotel employee is pacing nervously and talking on the phone. What's going on? "A woman was screaming, we let them know straight away anyway," say the eyewitnesses. "But now she's already gone."

"Should we swim after her?" asks one of them. "Better not, then they might have to look for three people instead of one ..."

"Oh my God!"
The woman is out of sight. Only a small white dot - sea foam - indicates her position. At some point, an excursion boat chugs in, looking in the wrong place. A second hotel employee appears and asks how long the woman has been out of sight. "15 minutes before the boat came," says a witness. "Oh my God!", the employee exclaims ...
