Shots fired in parking garage in Sweden – rapper dead

A rapper has died after being shot in a parking garage in Gothenburg, Sweden. The award-winning 25-year-old, who performed under the pseudonym C.Gambino, was found with a serious gunshot wound on Wednesday night, according to police. He later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. No arrests have yet been made.

"We suspect that the crime is connected to the gang environment," said the Gothenburg police spokesman, but did not want to give any further details. There are links between the Swedish artist and one or more criminal networks. It is believed to have been a gang attack and deliberate shooting in a public parking garage in the west of the city of Gothenburg.

Sweden has been fighting organized crime for years
Sweden has been struggling for years to curb the violence associated with organized crime. In this country of ten million inhabitants, such crimes have more than tripled in the past ten years and are significantly higher than in neighboring countries. The police estimate that 62,000 people are active in criminal networks or have links to such networks.

Almost one million listeners on Spotify
C.Gambino, who has almost one million monthly listeners on the streaming service Spotify, kept his identity hidden and wore a mask in public. This was also the case at the Swedish Grammis music awards last month, where he was named Swedish Hip-Hop Artist of the Year 2023. The deceased artist is not to be confused with the American artist Childish Gambino.

In 2021, 19-year-old musician Einár, whose real name was Nils Kurt Erik Einar Grönberg, was shot dead at night in a residential area in Hammarby Sjöstad in the south of Stockholm.
