Green waste rotted for two weeks in front of a Viennese municipal building in the 20th district. The residents complain of unpleasant odors. What's behind it. 

As temperatures warm up, so does the amount of green waste in municipal buildings. This is exactly what has been causing trouble at Kapaunplatz in the 20th district in recent weeks. Instead of the garden waste being disposed of in a timely manner, it was simply left lying carelessly in the middle of the street - for a whole two weeks!

Green waste was simply not collected
"This illegal composting area not only creates a certain odor nuisance, but also represents a certain lack of hygiene for me as a layman. I don't want to imagine what conditions would be like if this happened in summer at 30 degrees," complains "Krone" reader Hans Gruba. He and his neighbors have been eagerly waiting every day for the green waste, which smells worse every day, to finally be collected - in vain.

Wiener Wohnen clarifies: "The grass cuttings were produced during the lawn mowing work on May 14. Due to a misunderstanding with the waste disposal partner, the collection times for the green waste were mixed up. We regret the incident." The composted green waste has since been removed and the area cleaned up accordingly, according to the statement.
