Swan paralyzed power line in the Rhine delta

Around 800 households in Gaißau and Höchst recently had to make do without electricity for an hour. The reason: a swan had flown into a medium-voltage power line, causing a short circuit. 

As reported by ORF, this is the second power outage in the Rhine delta within six months. In December, a large bird paralyzed the power lines when it lost its bearings in dense fog and flew into a high-voltage line.
