Motorcyclist taken to hospital by helicopter

A serious motorcycle accident occurred in St. Johann am Walde on Friday evening. A 28-year-old local man had hit the car of a 67-year-old man with his motorcycle and crashed as a result. The biker sustained serious injuries and had to be flown to hospital. 

A 28-year-old local man was riding his motorcycle on the Sonnleitener Landesstraße towards Unterminathal in the municipality of St. Johann am Walde at around 6 pm. At the same time, a 67-year-old man from Schalchen turned out of a driveway onto the same road.

Car occupants suffered shock
The two vehicles collided, causing the motorcyclist to fall and sustain serious injuries. He had to be flown to hospital by emergency helicopter. The 67-year-old car driver and his passenger escaped with a shock. The Sonnleitener Landesstraße was closed for around an hour while the accident was being investigated and a detour was set up.
