Next energy group achieves record turnover

After Carinthia's largest energy group, Kelag, was able to record a whopping increase of 462 million euros last year, the balance sheet of Klagenfurt Stadtwerke is also impressive. The energy company was able to increase its turnover from 27 to 415 million euros.

Klagenfurt Stadtwerke's balance sheet is impressive. The public limited company, whose main area of business is in the energy sector, was able to significantly increase its turnover and operating result in the past financial year. This was increased by around 12 million euros to a total of 26 million euros.

"Our reorganization measures are taking effect and enabling us to continuously implement the necessary investments from our own resources," said the two Stadtwerke board members Erwin Smole and Harald Tschurnig, explaining the 2023 balance sheet result.

Subsidiary still in the red
And while the Group recorded a healthy plus, the balance sheet of the subsidiary Energie Klagenfurt is still in the red. Although a strong increase in turnover was achieved there, Energie Klagenfurt still closed the year with a loss of around 109,000 euros. In 2022, the figure was still around 14 million euros.

Investments in the electricity grid
Part of the profits of the Klagenfurt municipal utility is to be invested, as the demands on the electricity grid are constantly changing. The energy company therefore also wants to invest heavily in the expansion of the electricity supply in the provincial capital.
