Chancellor rehearses with dog “Fanny” for Sunak visit

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is expected to visit Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) in Vienna on Tuesday. The Chancellor himself prepared for the state guest on Monday with truly "animal" support. 

It is well known that there are few things the British are as fond of as dogs and horses - which is why Chancellor Nehammer immediately hired his Bavarian mountain dog "Fanny" for a test sit before the state visit. 

Main topic: the asylum problem
Sunak himself is a dog lover; the family owns a Labrador from the animal welfare organization called "Nova". However, the four-legged friends are only likely to be a side issue in the talks between the heads of state. The main topic will be the asylum system in the EU and the UK. 

"The only way to really prevent illegal migration, apart from effective external border protection, is asylum procedures outside the EU. We must solve the problem at the gates of the EU. This is the only way we can prevent the human suffering that people take upon themselves when they put themselves in the hands of people smugglers," Nehammer demanded ahead of the visit. "Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and I are on the same side here with our clear stance."
