Overtaking maneuver frightened biker – appeal for witnesses

Two weeks after a traffic accident in Innsbruck, the police are still looking for a motorcyclist who may have caused it. He overtook a second biker (27) on the right at a junction, causing the latter to become frightened and crash. Investigators are now asking witnesses for information. 

The accident occurred on Sunday, May 5, at the intersection of Langer Weg and Radetzkystraße in Innsbruck. A 27-year-old motorcyclist joined the line of several vehicles waiting for the light to turn green at a red traffic light.

What happened next, the police report in a press release: "Before the vehicles in front of him started to move, the 27-year-old was overtaken on the right by an unknown motorcyclist." The unexpected maneuver startled the local man, braked sharply and crashed.

Witnesses and second biker wanted
The police are now looking for the second motorcyclist who overtook on the right and for witnesses who can help clarify the exact circumstances of the accident. Information is requested from the Innsbruck Traffic Inspectorate: 059133 7591.
