Vienna: Long mystery surrounding a “ghost electricity meter”

A Viennese woman probably paid for an electricity meter for decades. What's unusual about it? After her mother's death, her son discovered that the meter did not exist. Nevertheless, charges continued to be imposed. The ombudswoman got this case moving.

The case concerns the now deceased mother of Eran G., who had already taken care of most of the Viennese woman's needs in the last few years before her death. The reason for this was dementia. "When she died in March 2022, I also inherited her apartment, which consists of two combined apartments and therefore also has two electricity meters," explained the Viennese man. The bone of contention, however, was a different meter.
