Is that where the glider lands? In Vomp in the Tyrolean district of Schwaz, some witnesses could not believe their eyes on Saturday afternoon. Due to difficult conditions, a German pilot (31) was forced to make an emergency landing in a field. Fortunately, this went smoothly.

The 31-year-old German took off in his glider from Innsbruck Airport at around 2.30 pm. His destination would have been Kufstein-Langkampfen airfield. But he was not to get that far.

Strong winds caused problems
"In the area of Vomp, the pilot was suddenly surprised by a strong northerly wind, which prevented further thermal ascent and even caused the altitude to drop," reported the police.

The aircraft was not damaged. The pilot was also uninjured.

Problem-free off-field landing
Reaching the destination airfield seemed impossible - also because the plane continued to lose altitude. So the 31-year-old was forced to make an off-field landing. And he did so shortly after 4 p.m. on a field in Vomp. Without any problems, according to the investigators.

"The aircraft was not damaged. The pilot was also uninjured." After the successful landing, the 31-year-old informed Innsbruck air traffic control and the Schwaz police station.
