Rescue with a stuffed animal
Tricky situation: fire department frees pupil
An operation for the St. Pölten City Fire Brigade at the Dr. Otto Glöckl School in St. Pölten-Viehofen: a schoolgirl had become so trapped in an armchair that even adults were unable to help her. The only thing left to do was to reach for the phone.
Even Florianis rarely experience something as strange as this: The fire department was called to a "human rescue" at the Dr. Otto Glöckl elementary school in St. Pölten-Viehofen. A pupil had trapped her pelvis in an armchair between the backrest and the seat.
The fire department had to arrive for a "somewhat different kind of human rescue", as they described it themselves, because even adult helpers were unable to free the little girl from the chair. It quickly became clear to the emergency services that the piece of furniture had to be dismantled.
A case for stuffed animals and cordless screwdrivers
After a brief assessment of the situation, the Florianis got to work: using the cordless screwdriver, they carefully drilled out the rivets securing the backrest. During the careful work, the firefighters gave the little girl a firefighter cuddly toy to calm her down.
Girl remained unharmed
"It is unclear how the child managed this feat," said the fire department about the curious incident. They were happy to have "rescued" the girl unharmed. She was allowed to keep the cuddly toy as a memento of the tricky situation. The operation was relatively calm. "It was more like a fire drill for the children," report observers.
