World footballer Lionel Messi continues to make his mark on the North American Major League Soccer (MLS). The Argentine scored a brace (32nd, 68th) and set up the two goals by Benjamin Cremaschi (83rd) and Luis Suárez (89th) in his club Inter Miami's 4-1 win at New England Revolution on Saturday.

The 36-year-old now has nine goals and seven assists in seven appearances this season - a record in league history according to Inter.

Miami clearly on course for the play-offs
Messi is also the first player in MLS history to score at least two goals in five consecutive games. Inter Miami, who clearly missed out on the play-offs last year when Messi, as well as Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, only moved to the USA during the season, are top of the Eastern Conference with 21 points from eleven games. The game at New England attracted 65,612 fans, giving the hosts a record crowd at Foxborough Stadium.
