Early on Friday morning, a heavily intoxicated woman drove her vehicle into oncoming traffic in Lower Austria and collided with an oncoming car. Due to the force of the impact, the drunk woman suffered serious injuries and was trapped in her vehicle.

According to the police, the driver was driving from Wieselburg towards Gaming in the Scheibbs district at around 7.40 a.m. when the accident occurred. 

Flown to hospital by helicopter
The volunteer fire department had to free the driver from the wreck. After receiving emergency first aid, she was flown to the Amstetten Regional Hospital by the Christopherus 15 rescue helicopter. A breathalyzer test at the hospital showed a blood alcohol level of over 1.6 per mille. The driver from the Scheibbs district had her driver's license temporarily confiscated.

17-year-old driver injured
The driver of the other car, a 17-year-old female driver, sustained injuries of indeterminate severity in the collision. She was taken to Scheibbs Regional Hospital by the ambulance service.
