Israel's Police Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir was injured in a car accident on Friday evening. His car, which was being driven by a driver, reportedly collided with another car. Several people were injured and taken to hospital.

These include the minister, his daughter, the politician's driver and the driver of the other car. According to his office, the minister is "in good condition". He had visited the site of a suspected knife attack and was on his way back.

The far-right politician's car ran a red light and collided with another car whose driver had a green light, according to reports. The car that is said to have overturned is an official car. Media published images showing Ben-Gvir's car overturned on a road after the accident. Another damaged car can also be seen.

Investigation announced
The police announced an investigation into the accident. Ben-Gvir was already involved in an accident last summer, when his driver also allegedly ran a red light.

An 18-year-old woman had previously been seriously injured in the alleged knife attack. The suspect was "neutralized", the police announced. The motive was initially unknown.
