The "Krone" wanted to know what Vienna's district parliaments are dealing with. It wasn't that easy. Now it has been improved and the motions passed have been published for all citizens.

Vienna has 23 district parliaments with a total of 1144 members of parliament. What do the citizens' representatives and the parties do in the district parliaments, which meet at least four times a year? The "Krone" recently wanted to find out more and asked the city for the motions from all 23 districts. To the astonishment of the editorial team and the city itself, these are not stored centrally - until now.

Following the "Krone" inquiry, the municipal administration set heaven and hell in motion to quickly rectify the situation. And just in time for this Friday's special state day for transparency, the city is now putting the new platform online.

Decisions on the web
"In the interests of transparency, from now on all adopted district motions will be listed and published annually by district on the City of Vienna's homepage under the heading 'Adopted motions from district council meetings'," says the city.

The "Krone" was already able to take a first look at the results: in 2023, there were 1454 adopted district motions and resolution motions in Vienna. In 2023, the number of applications was up to 162 per district. The platform is intended to increase interest in the work in the districts.
