Ski legends joke:
Neureuther competing for Norway with coach Svindal
Not Jamaica after all? After Felix Neureuther jokingly said during Marcel Hirscher's ski comeback that he would now attempt a comeback as a downhill skier for Jamaica, another World Cup legend, Aksel Lund Svindal, joined the discussion.
Neureuther should rather compete for Norway, the two-time Olympic champion demanded in the comment column on an Instagram post by the Bavarian. "We lost Lucas Braathen, but Felix Neureuther won. That would be a great story, let's go," wrote Svindal.
Although Neureuther was by no means averse to the idea, he did make one demand of the former speed specialist. "Only with you as a coach," the 40-year-old said as a prerequisite.
"You feed him, I train him"
Neureuther's wife Miriam is also part of the deal: "I'm all for it, but maybe he should make his comeback in the downhill," she added to the discussion. Fine with Svindal: "You feed him, I'll train him."
Even if the negotiations are probably just a joke - Hirscher has at least been able to persuade Neureuther to go for a short jog. "Can one of you tell me why I'm motivated to go jogging today? Hirscher, what are you doing?" muses the Svindal protégé in another post.
