A study now proves the benefits of the popular major event on the Danube Island: last year, the spectacle generated 40 million euros in added value.

It is the largest open-air festival in Europe and has already delighted 60 million people in more than 40 years: the Danube Island Festival. But what about the economic added value of this major event?

This has now been determined in a study commissioned by the organizers based on the Danube Island Festival 2023. The festival generated a turnover in the region of around 40 million euros and an indirect profitability of 86 to 99 million euros for two to three subsequent years, emphasizes study author Dieter Scharitzer. That is 14 to 16 times the budget of six million euros!

97 percent know the festival
The other results: The festival is firmly anchored in the minds of the Viennese and the catchment area: 97 percent of the 1500 respondents stated that they were familiar with the event - 91 percent liked it very much. SPÖ provincial party secretary Barbara Novak and Inselfest project manager Matthias Friedrich are delighted. The 41st edition of the Danube Island Festival will take place this year from June 21 to 23, 2024.
