Road in Altach to be widened for trucks
Now that the municipalities of Altach and Götzis have ended their dispute over the gravel works, the focus is on traffic relief.
The municipality of Altach has set itself the goal of relieving the population in the Große Wies / Unter Hub industrial estate of heavy goods traffic. The traffic planning office "Planoptimo" was commissioned with the planning of a traffic relief strategy, which also examined the S18 on behalf of Federal Minister Leonore Gewessler in order to develop possible traffic solutions.
Kratten" variant
The nine variants were presented on Thursday, with the "Kratten" variant being the favorite. It promises the greatest relief and less impact on the local recreational area than the other road options. In addition, the existing road infrastructure can be used as far as possible, which is why the additional areas to be sealed are smaller.
The opposition is not happy with this result. A decision on the matter will be made at the end of April.
