Special honor for Max Verstappen! The Dutchman has been included in the TIME 100 list of the 100 most influential people in the world by US Time magazine, which includes the three-time world champion as well as other stars from the world of sport.

This year, NFL star Patrick Mahomes and Jenni Hermoso, who won the Women's World Cup with Spain in 2023, were also included in the list. Last year, US ski star Mikaela Shiffrin was given this honor.

Only the third Formula 1 driver
Verstappen is only the third Formula 1 driver on this coveted list. Lewis Hamilton was included in 2020 and Michael Schumacher appeared on the list in 2005. Both have won seven world championship titles. The 26-year-old three-time champion Verstappen is likely to add a few more.

"Verstappen is so confident behind the wheel that he was able to keep an eye on the screens at the track during at least one race to watch the battle behind him," says TIME sports correspondent Sean Gregory, explaining Verstappen's selection for the top 100.
