Local residents in Kaprun are fighting for compensation for the damage caused by the Ache river and high groundwater levels in their cellars. The company, municipality and local residents came together at an information evening. However, it remains to be seen who will pay for the damage...

The waters have been rising for weeks between power plant operator Verbund and a small section of the Kaprun population. 13 Kaprun residents suddenly had water in their cellars shortly before Christmas, and it reached its highest level at the turn of the year. Groundwater had crept into the cellars in the middle of winter. The suspicion: Verbund had opened the floodgates of the Mooserboden and Wasserfallboden reservoirs in Kaprun, then the water from the Kapruner Ache and the groundwater spread.
