Hardly any pollen at the Vienna City Marathon

The Vienna City Marathon will take place on April 20 and 21. Allergy sufferers can look forward to a low pollen count. Due to the warm weather, some of the main allergens started flowering very early and are already in full bloom.

Birch, which is normally the main allergen for April, has already completed its main flowering period due to the sometimes summery weather conditions at the beginning of April.

Only wind currents from the west or north pose a threat of long-distance transportation of birch pollen.

Harbingers of the grass pollen season
The summer weather has encouraged the development of grasses, so the first flowering specimens and harbingers of the grass pollen season have already appeared. However, the pollen count of the grasses is still low at the time of writing.

Runners will therefore find almost ideal conditions in terms of pollen count. However, sunglasses or headgear can also mitigate contact with pollen.
