Main station evacuated due to bomb threat
A large contingent of emergency services had to evacuate Klagenfurt Central Station on Sunday afternoon. An unknown person sent an email threatening to detonate a bomb in the building. A short time later, the all-clear was given.
There was great excitement at Klagenfurt Central Station shortly before 4 pm on Sunday. Numerous police officers evacuated the building. "The reason for this was that an unknown person had sent an email to the police threatening to detonate a bomb in the Billa supermarket," the provincial police headquarters told the "Krone" newspaper.
The entire building was closely inspected by experts from the Carinthian police. "Such a threat must be taken seriously. And that is why we have also initiated these measures," said an official.
The federal railroads also temporarily suspended operations. However, a bomb could not be found.
