Fire in a barn caused a major fire department operation

Dangerous operation for numerous emergency services in St. Leonhard im Pitztal on Saturday evening! A fire broke out in a barn in Plangeross. Several fire departments were able to extinguish the flames. Children were responsible for the fire.

Shortly before 7 pm, the sirens sounded in the Plangeross district. A fire had broken out in a barn on a farm. Passers-by, fortunately including two members of the Plangeross fire brigade, began extinguishing the fire before the emergency services arrived.

"Due to the wooden construction, the size of the building and the dense construction in this part of the village, the incident commander raised the alarm to level 3," explained the Plangeross fire department. The Plangeross, St. Leonhard im Pitztal, Zaunhof, Neurur and Wenns fire departments were able to quickly bring the fire under control and finally extinguish it. There was considerable material damage.

After further investigations, the fire investigators were certain: it was undoubtedly arson! "Two children aged 7 and 6 were identified as the perpetrators. They had used a lighter and caused the barn to catch fire," said the police. The lighter was found at the scene of the fire.
