Second League
Ried remain second after scoring against Bregenz
SV Ried also took advantage of GAK's first defeat of the year and reduced the gap to the leaders of the 2nd Football League to eleven points.
The team from the Innviertel region dispatched Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz 5:0 (3:0) at home on Saturday evening and are still level on points with DSV Leoben in second place. Leoben had won 2-0 at FAC on Friday, while GAK, who are on the verge of returning to the Bundesliga, lost 2-0 at FC Liefering.
Ried recorded their third win in the last four games. For the first time in the spring, a win was not immediately followed by a defeat. The outstanding man was Ante Bajic with three goals. The ex-Rapidler scored in the second minute from the sixteen into the near corner. He was also successful with a deflected shot (31') and a header (50'). The other goals were scored by Nikki Havenaar with a header after he had taken a throw-in himself (20') and Mark Große with a penalty (54'). Ried's Lumor Agbenyenu nailed the ball onto the crossbar in the final minute (85').
Bregenz have now gone five rounds without a win and have slipped to eleventh in the table. The visit to Ried was the second game under interim coach Martin Schneider following last week's 3-3 draw against stragglers Sturm Graz II. Former coach Markus Mader announced his retirement at the beginning of April.
