Race Across America
What a baby does at the longest bike race in the world
The adventure of a lifetime awaits cyclist Lukas Kaufmann: the Upper Austrian is taking part in the RAAM, the longest cycling race in the world, and his five-month-old son Paul will be helping Lukas.
The Race Across America (RAAM) is a non-stop cycling marathon, which this year covers a total distance of 4923 kilometers from the Californian town of Oceanside on the US west coast across the continent to Atlantic City on the US east coast.
"The Linz RAAM legend Helmut Ocenasek, who as a doctor looked after the successful Austrian RAAM series winners Wolfgang Fasching and Christoph Strasser as well as extreme cyclist Gerhard Gulewicz and myself, is responsible for me starting this year," says Lukas, whom the "Radkrone" was able to accompany during training at Lake Hallstatt (Upper Austria).
