Fulminant competition at the Klagenfurt Konzerthaus
In just a few days, five ensembles will be competing at the ARTEDEA competition in Klagenfurt's Konzerthaus not only for the coveted ARTEDEA statue, but also for a hefty cash prize.
All stylistic eras, albeit mixed with 21st century sounds, are permitted at the ARTEDEA competition, which was launched by the Klagenfurt Lions Club Artecon. The conversion of the Klagenfurt Konzerthaus is large and unique. The technicians are building a 360-degree stage "This gives the audience a unique opportunity to see musicians from a different perspective," says concert hall manager Peter Töplitzer.
Competition as a springboard
Five ensembles - Mahler Percussion, Trio Aeda, Rusalka, AFORM.duo and Carinthian Trombones - will take to the stage to perform their musical delights. Prize money of 2500 euros and the ARTEDEA statue await the winners. "For the winners, this is also a springboard for their future careers," says Lions President Johannes Pöschl. Each chamber music ensemble has 15 minutes to present itself - with sound and with a specially created performance.
Top-class jury at the start
The jurors - Kammersängerin Bernarda Fink, the Artistic Director of the Taggenbrunn Festival, Arno Steinwider, City Theater Director Matthias Walter, Annemarie Podesser, Professor at the Gustav Mahler Private University for Music (GMPU), the journalists Sonya Kleindienst and Gerlinde Schager - will evaluate the artists' performances. The GMPU, the "Kärntner Krone" and the ORF will provide support. The competition will be broadcast via livestream and on the radio. Votes can be cast using a QR code. The brass ensemble BlechReiz will heat things up during the voting. For the first time, there will be an audience award.
