Why used cars are finally getting cheaper

After two years of rapid increases, the prices of used cars have finally slowed down again by an average of around three percent since January. Experts believe they are likely to fall even further. The "Krone" knows the reasons and the trends.

Just two years ago, car prices were in the fast lane and rose dramatically. Instead of an average of 25,500 euros, car buyers already had to pay a good 3000 euros more for a used car in October, AutoScout24 determined for the "Krone". This level remained almost the same until this January. Now, however, the trend has reversed, according to Nikolaus Menches, Head of AutoScout24 Austria: "We are observing a sustained and pleasing consolidation of prices on the market."
