Campsite operators are preparing for the upcoming season. The image has changed in recent years.

Because the Austrians' motto this year is "vacation at home", not only Carinthian hotel operators want to attract numerous vacation guests, but also campsite owners. And it is no longer the older crowd that is enthusiastic about camping and the like. "In recent years, we have noticed that camping appeals to a much broader audience," explains Thomas Freund, operator of the campsite in Klagenfurt's Ostbucht.

Meeting new demands
In addition, more and more families and affluent customers are discovering camping for themselves. "Of course, they have completely different demands - and as an operator, you have to respond to that," says Freund in an interview with the "Krone".

We open in 14 days. Of course, there's a lot to do to make our guests feel comfortable again. Camping has long since ceased to be a low-budget vacation.

The broad public is also reflected in the figures. Carinthia is the number one camping province. Last year alone, our province accounted for 2.5 million of the 3.8 million overnight stays. And this is an additional incentive for the local campsite operators, who will soon be starting the season.
