Another attack
Five people killed after drone attack on Kharkiv
Russian drones attacked residential buildings in Kharkiv early on Thursday morning. At least five people were killed.
While Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi has once again made an urgent appeal to his Western allies for help in winning the war against his large neighbor in the face of fears of new Russian offensives in his country, Russian drones attacked residential buildings in Ukraine's second-largest city early on Thursday morning, according to the authorities in the Ukrainian region of Kharkiv.
Four people, including three rescue workers, died in an attack on residential buildings in a densely populated area on Thursday night, explained the mayor of the metropolis of Kharkiv, Igor Terekov, in the online service Telegram. Another attack in another residential area resulted in another death.
Iranian-made drones
Five more people were injured. Iranian-made Shahed drones are said to have been used. The head of Kharkiv's military administration, Oleg Synegubov, reported "at least four" attacks on the city during the night.
Ukraine is attacked almost every night from Russia - the eastern city of Kharkiv, close to the border, is particularly often targeted by Russian troops.
"We must win this war"
Ukrainian authorities regularly call on Western allies to supply more air defense systems, including modern Patriot systems from the USA. An aid package for Ukraine worth billions has been blocked in the US Congress for several months.
Selensky is also constantly asking for help. "We have to win this war. This is a historic opportunity for Ukraine to thwart Russian revanchism and we must seize it," he said on Wednesday.
