Transperson attacked with irritant gas by Algerian man
During an attack at Bremen Central Station in Germany, a transperson was insulted by a young man and attacked with pepper spray. Federal police officers in plain clothes arrested the suspect after a short escape.
The 27-year-old victim suffered eye irritation and had to be treated in hospital, as the police in the Hanseatic city announced on Wednesday.
Investigation into insult and assault
According to the police, the alleged attacker was an Algerian allegedly aged 17. However, there were indications that he could be older than stated. The man is now being investigated for inciting insult and grievous bodily harm.
The crime took place on Tuesday on the station forecourt in Bremen's city center. The suspect loudly insulted the person on a sexual basis several times and, according to the police, followed her to the entrance of a hotel. There he sprayed the transperson in the face with irritant gas and fled. According to previous findings, the victim and perpetrator did not know each other.
