Major operation after failed April Fool’s joke
A mother in Liechtenstein wanted to send her daughter off for April Fool's Day on Monday. However, it went badly wrong. Instead of laughter, the woman is now likely to receive a hefty administrative fine.
The people of Liechtenstein are not exactly famous for their subtle sense of humor - and apparently rightly so: early Monday evening, a woman sent a picture to her daughter. It showed what appeared to be her hand bleeding profusely.
Shocked by the sight, the daughter called her mother immediately - but she didn't pick up. So she alerted the emergency services, whereupon two police patrols and the ambulance service were deployed.
The mother was eventually located - but there was no sign of a gaping wound. She had only wanted to send her daughter to April Fools' Day, the amateur comedian explained to the baffled officers. "Fortunately, there were no bottlenecks for the rescue organizations during this time," said the Liechtenstein state police. They will now check whether the costs of the operation can be passed on. And that's no joke.
