“We need an environmental department in the Tyrolean government”

Walter Tschon, Deputy Provincial Environmental Ombudsman, would like to see the Tyrolean provincial government pool its environmental and nature conservation expertise. He envisages a separate department for this purpose. "This could shorten the duration of project procedures," is one of his arguments. 

In the fight against climate change, not only is urgency required, but also optimal cooperation and coordination at national and international level. If the Tyrolean Environmental Ombudsman's Office has its way, there needs to be a realignment within the provincial government. "We are facing two major crises at the same time: the climate crisis and the extinction of species. Due to the future challenges, it is essential to have a coordinated environmental department. Climate protection and nature conservation belong together," says Walter Tschon, Deputy Provincial Environmental Advocate, in an interview with the "Tiroler Krone" newspaper.
