Work on the Arlbergbahn causes train closures

Due to maintenance work, the Arlberg railway line will be closed to trains on April 6 and 7. Between Ötztal and Bludenz or Sargans, the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) will set up a rail replacement service with buses.

Because railroad lines also need service from time to time, there will be a closure for trains on the Arlberg railway line next weekend. The reason for this is maintenance work. From Saturday, April 6, 8.30 a.m. to Sunday, April 7, 4.25 p.m., passengers will therefore have to change to buses.

Changes for long-distance services
Instead of the long-distance trains, buses will run between Ötztal and Bludenz or between Ötztal-Bludenz-Feldkirch-Sargans and back. The bus stops are located at the station forecourt. Some RJX and ICE connections may be canceled. The affected night trains will be widely rerouted via Germany. ÖBB asks customers to inform themselves in advance about the desired connection.

Travel on local services takes longer
Buses will be provided between Ötztal and Landeck-Zams for local transportation. The following stops will be served: Ötztal Bahnhofsvorplatz / Roppen Innbrücke / Roppen Trankhütte / Imst-Pitztal Bahnhofsvorplatz / Schönwies Bahnhst (forecourt) Landeck-Zams Bahnhof. Imsterberg station will be served by a minibus during the closure. Please note that the rail replacement service with buses can be expected to extend the journey time by up to 20 minutes.

In total, more than 50 individual measures will be implemented along the route. For example, tunnel maintenance, flushing of drainage systems, repairs to railroad equipment, inspection of bridges and woodwork are planned during the route closure, which will last around one and a half days.
