Netanyahu successfully operated on Sunday
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu underwent surgery for a hernia under general anesthesia on Sunday evening. Justice Minister Yariv Levin, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, took over the official duties.
The hernia, a tissue rupture, was discovered on Saturday during a routine examination. Parts of the intestine, organs or fatty tissue protrude through a gap in the abdominal wall.

Simple intervention
Netanyahu's office did not specify which hernia the Prime Minister had been diagnosed with. Most patients can leave hospital quickly after a hernia operation and return to normal physical activity after a few days or weeks.
Netanyahu has often been hospitalized for health problems in the past. In the summer of 2023, for example, the 74-year-old was fitted with a pacemaker.
