Work until the end of 2025
New stone bridge in Schwaz continues to take shape
Construction continues in the silver town of Schwaz! Due to the low water level of the Inn, construction work on the new stone bridge is continuing apace. Completion is likely to take some time yet.
It is almost a year to the day since the plans for the bypass and measures for the new construction of the stone bridge in Schwaz were presented. A lot has happened since then. At the end of the year, half of the old bridge, which was used by around 7,000 vehicles a day, was demolished. A temporary bridge for pedestrians and cyclists was built.
Work only when there is little water
To ensure that the new bridge is in place, work is only carried out from fall to spring. The reason: the work is only possible during periods of low water. The new construction is already taking shape. The first half (see photo at the top) is already in place.
However, it will probably be some time before the bridge is opened to traffic: the new stone bridge is due to be completed at the end of 2025 or beginning of 2026.
