WSG Tirol have gained some breathing space in the fight to avoid relegation! The team from Watten won the clash between two relegation candidates against Austria Lustenau 2:1 (1:0) in the qualifying round of the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Thanks to goals from the outstanding Nik Prelec (42nd) and Aleksander Buksa (60th/penalty), WSG are now five points ahead of the bottom club in the table. The Vorarlberg side, who were decimated from the 50th minute onwards, scored the equalizer in the 94th minute through Yadaly Diaby.

For 40 minutes, the fans in Bregenz were treated to a lot of fighting, but no playful highlights. Only one penalty review by the VAR on each side provided a little excitement.

Prelec pulled away and scored with ice-cold precision to make it 1:0
The first real chance gave the visitors the lead. Lustenau's defense did not handle a long ball well, Prelec ran up and away and scored ice-cold to make it 1:0 for the team of long-term coach Thomas Silberberger, who is retiring in the summer.

Buksa stepped up to take the penalty and scored safely
Shortly after the restart, Prelec broke clear again and Lustenau defender Kennedy Boateng resorted to an emergency stop and was sent to the dressing room with a red card (50'). The Slovenian striker was also instrumental in the next decisive situation. Luca Meisl got a hand to a Prelec cross and Buksa, who had just come on as a substitute, stepped up to take the penalty and scored safely.

But Lustenau did not give up. A shot from Leo Mikic was just blocked (65'), a header from Darijo Grujcic hit the bar (65'). In stoppage time, the 1:2 was finally scored, but too late to turn the game around.
