Next city government
Auinger gives Dankl and Schiester their desired portfolios
Bernhard Auinger is wasting no time after his election as mayor. On Tuesday, there were face-to-face talks with the members of the next city government to divide up the portfolios. Afterwards, Auinger told the "Krone" newspaper: "The rough plan is in place." It looks like this: Kay-Michael Dankl (KPÖ Plus) gets the desired housing portfolio. Anna Schiester (Citizens' List) will get the transport portfolio.
As the subject areas are divided between several departments in the municipal council, a new division of responsibilities is needed. Whether this is possible in the way Auinger envisions will be clarified with municipal director Max Tischler on Wednesday. Auinger will take over the central departments of personnel and finance himself. The social department will remain with the future SPÖ deputy mayor Andrea Brandner.
Florian Kreibich (ÖVP) will take over the district administration and probably the municipal enterprises from the outgoing mayor Harald Preuner. The division of responsibilities is to be clarified this week. On Tuesday, Auinger wants to finalize the portfolios in a large group, then the party talks will begin. Auinger describes clarifying the portfolios before the content as a "completely new approach". This should ensure clear responsibilities from the outset.
