Innkeeper beaten to death
Murder suspect doubts DNA traces
"It can't be true, you have to take a closer look," says Lambach murder suspect Jürgen H. (36), doubting the DNA evidence found on his hands: Blood from the slain innkeeper Josef Muhr (68), whom the denying inmate describes as his best friend.
The presumption of innocence applies, but the chain of evidence is getting longer and longer. A debt of 200 euros at a sex club is said to have been the motive for the murder: The poor excavator driver had assured the impatient brothel manager that he would pay his bill on the night of the crime. "Just so there would be some peace", he now says in prison. He would have wanted to get the money from the ATM and not from the innkeeper: "But he would have given it to me voluntarily at any time, because he was my best friend." He would not have pumped him or beaten and robbed him.
H. affirms that he did not want to steal or borrow money from Muhr at the crime scene at the time of the crime: "I would have earned enough the next day from a botched job to pay my debts." He only had one drink at his friend's house and then went home. But he has no alibi for this because he lives alone.
