Alessandro Hämmerle
Home triumphs are followed by the season finale
After his home double triumph in Montafon, Alessandro Hämmerle is tackling the season-ending snowboard cross World Cup competitions on Saturday (17:00 CET) and Sunday (17:00) in Mont-Sainte-Anne in Canada with a lot of confidence. In the women's event, five athletes are still hoping for the crystal globe
As the battle for the overall World Cup has already been decided in favor of Eliot Grondin, it's all about a good finish for the 30-year-old from Vorarlberg. Hämmerle's dream of a fourth overall victory of his career was shattered last weekend despite winning both home races.
The Canadian Grondin goes into the last two competitions with an unassailable lead of 204 points over the ÖSV ace and can then lift the globe for the first time - and then in front of a home crowd.
Women's race still open
In the women's event, the race for the overall World Cup is still ongoing. France's Chloe Trespeuch is in the lead with 662 points. However, Michaela Moioli (584), Charlotte Bankes (557), Josie Baff (498) and Eva Adamczykova (483) could also overtake her.
This does not apply to Pia Zerkhold. For the 25-year-old from Lower Austria, the return to Canada is a special one, last year she celebrated her only podium finish in the World Cup on the slope with second place.
