Interview canceled: Reporter now speaks out

One day after Jürgen Klopp cut short an interview with a Danish TV station following the 4:3 defeat in the FA Cup against Manchester United on Sunday, the reporter concerned has now spoken out.

The background: Niels Christian Frederiksen had asked Klopp why the players had lacked their usual intensity towards the end of the game. A question that the German coach clearly did not like at all. "A bit of a stupid question, I have to say," he replied, only to cut the conversation short shortly afterwards.

"I was really surprised"
Frederiksen has now revealed to Tipsbladet what happened next. "I was really surprised - and those standing around us were scared, because their backs were almost pressed against the wall. 'What the hell just happened here?" the Viaplay journalist said.

Klopp then walked down the corridor and shouted at Frederiksen. "I went after him, because it all seemed strange to me."

No bad blood
The Dane did not reveal whether there was a clarifying conversation, but he did not think the incident was a big deal. "I've interviewed Jürgen many times. I don't know him personally, but I've been to Mainz a few times, interviewed him in Dortmund and many times in Liverpool. So we don't have a bad relationship at all. I know that you don't become one of the best coaches in the world if you're a good loser," Frederiksen assures that there will be no problems in the future despite the incident. "When I interview him again, we will be friendly to each other in a professional way."
