Father and son as a top culinary duo
Father and son: While Ernst Strohmaier runs the Pielachtal family inn, his son Christian is on the road to success with his food truck. The son has even named his mobile kitchen "Ernestos" - after his dad!
Christian Strohmaier has long been a gastronomy legend. "Gourmets flock wherever he appears with his food truck," confirms regular guest Anton Triml. The mobile kitchen menu, which is particularly popular in the USA, includes the "Philadelphia cheese steak" garnished with cheese sauce.
Host family at the stove since 1907
What makes the eco-pioneer's specialties so special is that they come from his father Ernst Strohmaier's butcher's shop. "We are rooted in our Pielachtal homeland. Our inn in Hofstetten-Grünau has been in the family since 1907. My son is now continuing this life's work in his own way," says the proud senior.
It is precisely because the two are so down-to-earth that many celebrities stop by for their unique roast pork. Even Austria's fly-fishing elite - above all top heart surgeon Dr. Günther Laufer - have their regulars' table here in the Pielach Valley.
The best ingredients from the region
"Ernestos" continues this tradition. He refines delicacies from regional farmers, which are processed in the in-house butchery and butcher's shop. This is done 100 percent by hand. Even the buns for the burgers come from the local master baker
