Fire in Bologna: mother and three children dead

A 32-year-old mother and her three children died in a fire in Bologna on Thursday evening.

The dead children were twins aged two and a six-year-old sister. The mother was taken to hospital in a critical condition, where she succumbed to her serious injuries. The father of the deceased children was out of the house when the accident occurred. 

Fire caused by a short circuit
The fire may have been caused by a short circuit in an electric radiator. It broke out in an apartment on the fourth floor of an eight-storey residential building on the outskirts of Bologna. The apartment, which was full of smoke when the fire department arrived, was sealed. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
