Club president: Neymar’s return is “inevitable”

Marcelo Teixeira, the president of FC Santos, is convinced that Neymar will return. After all, the Brazilian regularly visits his former club and sooner or later he will sign for his old club, the 59-year-old has no doubts.

 "He comes to Vila Belmiro (Santos FC stadium) and watches matches. He has a relationship full of appreciation, respect and gratitude towards Santos," Teixeira told Mundo Deportivo. "So I believe that the path for him to return is inevitable."

Became a star at Santos
Neymar began his professional career at Santos FC, where he quickly found himself on the wish lists of numerous top clubs. In 2013, he moved to FC Barcelona for 88 million euros. The 32-year-old is currently under contract with Saudi league leaders Al-Hilal, but has been missing the club from Riyadh since October with a torn cruciate ligament.

The striker is still under contract with Al-Hilal until 2025. Should he not make use of the option to extend his contract by a further year, he would be free to move to Santos. Teixeira would probably welcome the prodigal son with open arms.
