5:1 victory in Vorarlberg
KAC celebrates semi-final entry after lightning start
It's done! The Red Jackets have eliminated their tough quarter-final opponents Vorarlberg 4:2 in the series. Because they got off to the better start away from home and were ice-cold in front of goal - and thus won 5:1. However, the opponent for the semi-final is still open.
With a real dream start, the Red Jackets have already taken a big step towards the semi-finals. After just 50 seconds, Petersen buried his own rebound - and in minute three, van Ee scored a superb one-timer into the corner to make it 2:0. But the home side replied through Owre in the powerplay and then became increasingly dangerous. Dahm had to save against van Nes (9.). KAC also missed a short double overtime.
One goal each disallowed
And the visitors got off to another strong start in the second period! Postma took a shot from the blue line and scored into the short corner - after a video review for goalie obstruction, the goal was awarded to make it 3:1. Then a lot of video was watched - the supposed 3:2 (28.) by Michael Pastujov and the supposed 4:1 by Schwinger (30.) were disallowed. That's why the KAC went into the dressing room with a 3:1 lead
Now it's Bolzano or Pustertal
In the final third, Petersen completed his brace with a superb shot into the far corner and put the Wichen on course for the semi-finals with a 4:1 (46'). In the end, Klagenfurt celebrated a 5:1 victory. However, it remains to be seen who their opponents in the semi-finals will be - as Pustertal equalized in the series against Fehervar with a 4:2 win to make it 3:3. If Pustertal advances, the South Tyroleans will be the opponent - if Fehervar advances, the KAC would face Bolzano.
