Doskozil undergoes laryngectomy for the seventh time
After a routine check-up at Leipzig Hospital, corrective surgery was necessary. The Governor of Burgenland will be back in office in just a few days, but for the time being he will be conducting business from home.
The Governor of Burgenland, Hans Peter Doskozil, has undergone another corrective operation on his larynx. It was already the seventh operation in this regard.
The procedure was recommended because a minor and benign growth was found at the site last operated on in November 2023. Doskozil's attending physician, Andreas Dietz, had recommended this short-term minor procedure because it would ensure the fastest possible healing process.
The clinical picture itself - a rare but harmless hardening of the cartilage structure of the larynx, in which ossified areas have to be removed at irregular intervals - has not changed.
A few days of home office for the time being
Doskozil has come through the surgical procedure well and is already on the road to recovery. The SPÖ politician is in regular contact with his staff and his government team and is discussing all currently relevant issues.
"He will return to Burgenland in the next few days and will conduct his official business from home for the time being," his office says. "He has already established a routine in dealing with his chronic illness that is working smoothly."
